Professional Profile
Joanna grew up in Cheltenham, studied medicine at Cambridge University, and was awarded a Master of Arts degree. She graduated in clinical studies at Oxford University. She was awarded the Radcliffe Prize: a university prize for all round excellence.
She undertook a broad and varied surgical training in Oxford, London, Durham,
Birmingham and Sydney. She developed particular skills in breast reconstruction, microsurgery and cosmetic surgery. She was one of the very few plastic surgeons to be awarded a sought-after oncoplastic fellowship and she enhanced her aesthetic skills during a dedicated cosmetic fellowship.
She has been a fully accredited specialist in plastic surgery since 2009. She is a member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS).
In addition to clinical work, she is also a trainer on the oncoplastic skills course at the Royal College of Surgeons. She has published more than 30 articles on all types of cosmetic and plastic surgery. She has written the surgical section of the National Oncoplastic Guidelines, which sets quality standards in the UK.
She is currently an NHS consultant in plastic surgery at a University Hospital specialising in reconstruction for people with injuries and breast or skin cancer.
Joanna’s caring nature and attention to detail help her to provide uncompromisingly high standards for her patients.
