CORONA VIRus UPDATE
Face to Face Appointments now Available
I am delighted that Warwickshire Nuffield Hospital have now opened some clinics for face to face appointments.
Spire Southbank and BMI Meriden hospitals are now allowing some urgent appointments to be booked.
However, there is still no capacity for non urgent procedures, but I am hoping there will be more availability as NHS services return to NHS hospital sites.
If you pick up coronavirus after an operation, you may be more severely unwell, as surgery affects your immune system. If you require an urgent procedure, you will have a compulsory COVID test before your surgery and will also be required to isolate for 3 - 14 days prior to admission. The aim is to the reduce risk of you inadvertently picking up coronavirus and developing symptoms only after surgery, which could be severe and cause admission to intensive care or even death. Due to these very serious potential risks, the hospitals have taken many precautions, including:
Checking everyone entering (including staff) for symptoms and a temperature
Meticulous cleaning
Testing patients prior to admission
Testing staff regularly
Ensuring hand sanitisation and masks are used at all times
Reducing the numbers of people attending to allow social distancing in the waiting room
Maintaining ‘green’ pathways.
Stay safe.
Best Wishes,
